Sad news

As I blogged from previous post. Steve's grandmother is very sick. She passed away last Friday peacefully. Steve flew to Buffalo to attend the funeral and will be back Wednesday. I'm home with the boys. I'm so sad that we never have a chance to meet her. We booked to Buffalo Aug 10. At this point we aren't sure what we are going to do.

Thai Temple

Sam in the pray room.In front the temple

On Sunday we went to Thai Temple in Berkeley(Wat Mongkolratanaram). It's been awhile since last time we were there. It was before Sam was born. Shame on me. I guess because we had a big problem with Josh's mom and grandmother last time we went there. They are Christian and very religious. They freaked out when Josh told them how he was enjoyed going to the temple. They don't want us to take Josh there. I didn't want to stir up or argue about it so....
Well the reason we went there because I want to get Sam and Max to learn to speak Thai. I know that they have Thai classes but I didn't know what age group when they can start. Five is the youngest. We have few years to go.

Also every Sunday at the temple, Thai people go there and make food for sell to raise money for the temple. The Temple is well known around bay area for good authentic Thai food and lot of people show up. Check the temple link if you want more photos and info. We also really enjoyed the food our self especially..... me!
I also got to pray in the temple. I'm glad that we went. I'll try to go there more often.

Russian River

Tim and Josh on the canoe
Sam and Steve are waiting for their turn.
Sam and Steve on Canoe
Tim and Josh are floating on the tube.

On Saturday Tim and his wife Eleen invited us to go up to Russian River in Sonoma. They are renting the cabin right next to the river for 2 weeks. Last time we were up there was 3 years ago. Steve and I love wine. We used to drive up and go wine tasting<--it's the thing in the past=(

We left around noon and it took us about 2 hours to get there. The boys took the nap in car and woke up just right before we got there. Perfect!
The cabin is very cozy and relaxing. The deck is overlook the river. Tim took Josh on the canoe for awhile then Steve took Sam out. Max, Eleen and I were on the deck hanging out. We stayed for dinner and left around 7pm. We got home around 8.30pm. I had a really great time. Relaxing and calm! That's what I felt. I've not feel like that for awhile. You know, the feeling that you have when you are on vacation.
I think the boys had a great time also. I'm thinking to try to rent the cabin in September. It's very affordable.
Sorry, the pictures are small because I took them from the deck.

4.2 Magnitude

Early this morning I woke up and went to the bathroom around 4 something. I came back and tried to go back to sleep. I laid down for awhile then I felt the whole house moving, Sushi got freak out and jumped off the bed and I heard something felt down outside. Earthquake!
It was the biggest earthquake I've ever felt since I moved to San Francisco 10 years ago. I was a little scare. When the earthquake happens, I always get paranoid and keep thinking that it'll get bigger and stronger.

Sorry, I've not been keeping up on blogging lately. The boy kept me busy and Steve was working both Saturday and Sunday.

Because of we bought a condo back in April so we don't have any plans to go anywhere this summer. Now we probably will go visit Steve's grandmother who lives in Buffalo.

I got a sad call from Steve's mom on Friday. Steve's grandmother has been sick very long time and now she got worsen. The doctor gave her 2 months. I want her to be able to see her great grandchildren before anything happens. Sam, Max and I haven't meet her and Josh met her when he was 2. We'll try to go within next 3 weeks because Josh will be home tonight(Yay!!) and will be with us for 3 weeks before he has to go back to Chicago again.=(
I've been looking up the flight online. The cheapest one is about $500 a piece and 5 of us. Geez! Can anyone suggest any website for cheap airfare and hotel?

China Free??

This morning I went to Mollie Stone to pick up some deli meat and fish. At the seafood section, there is a big sign says "We do not carry seafood from China". It made me confuse and wonder what is going on. I came home and Google it then I found this article "China executes ex-head of food and drug agency" and another couple related news, "Made In China" and "China Free". I'm worried as a consumer and sad because I can see this is going to affect the whole importing in Asian big time. One selfish person puts the whole Asian economy in jeopardy.

After Max went for a nap, I checked all my canned food because most of them, I got from my favorite and biggest Chinese supermarket in my area. I tossed my frozen shrimp that I bought awhile ago because I wasn't sure where it came from(I tossed the bag when I first opened it).
I looked around the house and tried to figure it out what else I can do because it's not only food.

Then I think "Am I be over reacted?"

Weekend update

What a fun day yesterday! We went to All star Fan Fest. Steve is a Giant fan. It was a very big event. We showed up at 9 am. and took us about 15-20 minutes waiting in line to get in. It's all worth it.
Saturday was boring!! It was a foggy and misty day. Steve had to work and I was with Sam and Max all day at home. The playground was too wet. I have to figure it out what to do with them when one of foggy day comes up again.

About my
Soondoobu, it came out great. A while ago, couple of you asked me what is Thai breakfast. It's pretty similar to Chinese. I made boiled rice and served with pork sung, fermented mustard green, Thai scramble egg and Thai salted fish with minced Thai Chili, lime, sugar and red onion(I can't find any pictures on the net. I'll take a picture next time I make it).

By the way, Max isn't walking yet but he can take 4-5 steps and stands for couple seconds.

Our July 4th hoilday

We pretty much just stayed home yesterday. The weather was super nice and hot, just perfect for BBQ. I made some Korean BBQ. I didn't plan to make Korean BBQ but it came across when I went to Korean supermarket yesterday to get the ingredients to make Soondoobu.

Sam and I Kalbi is looking good!!
Spicy pork, Yum...Our July 4th dinner
Max's eating the very last bite of spicy pork.

Sam loves Kalbi and Max loves spicy pok. The dinner was so good but it didn't sit with me too well. I guess because I've been ate that much meat in awhile. It's all worth it though. Tonight I'm going to make Soondoobu. Let's see how it will come out.

Weekend photos1

On Saturday we took the boys to Discovery Museum in Sausalito. They had so much fun!!!

After we came back they need the new change of clothes, they were wet, dirty and covered in paint.

Need to vent a bit.

How can two little people tired me out very badly? I felt like I run a 20 miles Marathon at the end of the day everyday last week. I had no energy to do anything. Max was sick for a couple days and still teething. Sam was so sensitive and every little things upset him. He was so needy and still. I'm sure Josh's being gone plays the role on it. And Steve had to work very late last week so I had no help.
